When your work is to deliver a standard chemical process, we suggest following these 10 steps:

1. Create a team made of 4-5 people with miscellaneous roles in the production area (shift worker, department head, maintenance, engineers)
2. go personally to the gemba (where the process happens)
3. monitor deviations from expected output (defects, yield, process parameters, manual operations)
4. measure process performance against your goal
5. analyze the data to find the root cause
6. give a colleague not usually involved in the process the same task: a fresh look can notice additional details
7. Open a A3 sheet to evaluate and work on the major failure cause
8. implement your solution
9. measure new output
10. The solution is a new standard until the next deviation!
